Burroughs & Chapin’s Archie Lemon Is Elected President Of The Myrtle Beach Area Golf Course Owners Association
Myrtle Beach, SC June 20, 2004 -- Archie Lemon, Director of Golf Operations for Burroughs & Chapin Golf Management, has been elected president of the Myrtle Beach Area Golf Course Owners Association. Burroughs & Chapin Golf Management, owns and or manages several Myrtle Beach golf courses including Grande Dunes, Myrtlewood Golf Club, Pine Lakes International Country Club, Tidewater Golf Club, Farmstead Golf Links and Meadowlands Golf Club.
An A-4 Member of the PGA of America and Carolinas PGA Merchandiser of the Year for 2000, Lemon has over 25 years of experience in the golf industry. He has also served the PGA of America as both Section and Chapter Officer, as well as Section Tournament and Membership Chairman.
Prior to joining Burroughs & Chapin Golf Management, Lemon served as Director of Golf at several upscale golf facilities throughout the Southeast. From 1983 to 1990 Mr. Lemon served as Head Golf Professional at The Landings Club on Skidaway Island in Savannah, Georgia. The Landings Club is the largest private golf club in North America, consisting of six eighteen-hole courses. In 1990, he became Director of Golf at The Golf Club of Georgia in Alpharetta and, in 1994, became Director of Golf at Kingsmill Resort & Club in Williamsburg, Virginia. He came to Myrtle Beach in 1998 to become Director of Golf at Legends Resorts, which, at the time, consisted of six Myrtle Beach golf courses and two Virginia layouts. Mr. Lemon joined Burroughs and Chapin in February of 2001.
The Myrtle Beach Area Golf Course Owners Association founded in 1979 represents 110 golf courses along the Grand Strand. Also included are 350 associate members, comprised of hotels, motels and property management agencies along the Grand Strand. It is a chapter of the South Carolina Golf Course Owners Association and the National Golf Course Owners Association (NGCOA). The NGCOA represents more than 5,000 golf courses; it is an international association devoted exclusively to promoting the interests of golf course owners and operators.
